Macie is the kindest, most polite and fun little girl! We had a great time traveling around town doing some fun new photos.

Last year I got to capture Macie and her little sister with their lovely mom, Chari. I feel so blessed to have returning clients again this year and will be seeing them again this fall for Christmas photos (yes, its that time of year again ALREADY!).

After many months of planning, meeting, thinking and working...I am so happy to announce the launch of something NEVER BEFORE DONE in our area for senior graduate photography. Its the HOT SQUAD.

Many of you know me as *THE* newborn photographer and newborns are my first love...nothing will ever compare to my newborn clients. My other love is senior photography. Its ironic really that I love catpturing your baby's first little wrinkles, toes and smiles and then also catpturing their fun and fresh personality as they graduate highschool, prepare for their future and spread their wings...Its really coming full circle.

There will be more updates to the site as well as a new logo and blog coming up ASAP...I just couldn't wait to launch it any longer!!! Welcome to the HOT SQUAD!

{The Hot Squad}

Q: What is the "Hot Squad"?
A: The Hot Squad is a program offered only by Jessica Cole Photography. A handful of seniors are selected from each high school as the "Top Hot Squad" and these select seniors are given a FREE senior session. Each of these Top Hot Squad members are given their Hot Squad Rep Cards to give to their friends or people they think are hot members of their school. Those members get a discounted session as well and some Hot Squad cards to give to their friends and so on...

Q: How are the Top Hot Squad Members chosen?
A: The Top Hot Squad members are chosen by their teachers, principals, community members, etc. They are chosen and nominated for good attitude, community service, academic success, participants of student government or athletics...it can be a variety of choices that the student has made that shows they are a person of good character in our community. From there, its totally open to student selections by their friends and whomever they want to give their Hot Squad card to...besties, boyfriends, girlfriends...you name it! The choice is yours from there!

Q: How much is the discount for Hot Squad members?
A: The Top Hot Squad members get a FREE session! The cards they give out are good for 75% off. Those Hot Squad cards are good for 50% off and so on...ALL senior members of the Hot Squad are given FREE rep cards and 32 FREE wallets to give to their friends.

Q: Why should I want to join the Hot Squad?
A: Why wouldn't you?! Its a fun way to see what all your friend's photos look like, swap photos, stories and rep cards. Its a good excuse to tell someone you think they are hot and that they deserve to show it off in an awesome and modern senior photo shoot. I am sure that most of you remember this little angel, baby Claire Marie.

Her mommy & daddy bought the baby stages package and we recently did her 'tummy time' session. She is ADORABLE but I was sort of sad that she didn't look a ton like her newborn days...her hair is lighter and her face is thinner...she is growing up right in front of my eyes...and lens! I love getting to see my newborn babies grow up & I feel so lucky to have a front row seat!

There is no denying where she gets her good looks-- momma!

And we had to throw in this fun shot because we have to do it again when she's 1 and 2 and 3...and see how she grows!

This awesome family has not had a real family photo done all together in nearly 30 years!!! When the daughter scheduled our session, I had no idea that it was her mom's birthday too! YEAH! What an awesome gift to give to her.

All together there were 9 family members there and we managed to catch every possible photo opportunity in time for their BBQ and evening of karaoke! :) FUN!

Jennifer and her mom drove up this evening to do some senior photos and we had SO much fun! This girl is like most women and doesn't give herself much credit. She kept telling me that she didn't know how to pose. When I explained that we don't 'pose' we do what comes to us with some minor direction....look at what she turned out! AMAZING!

Jennifer, you are gorgeous and I know you have an amazing future ahead of you!!!

My AMAZING helper Kristin has been very busy that few months...her husband is in the Army and has been gone leaving her with both kids, work and a litter of new puppies to handle all on her own.

When he came home for the 4th of July, she requested some 'couples' shots...we've done family photos a few times now and some of her kids but this time it was all about her and the love of her life. We wanted them to be fun, flirty and a little bit sexy...just like my Kristin herself!

While I can capture the 'textbook' sun-flare with the best of them, I love the taste of something new. Something artistic and not usually seen as beautiful. I am in LOVE with the hazy look of sun covering my lens this year...I am not sure why. Maybe its because its 'vintage' looking and reminds me of the dog days of summer. Maybe its because the regular 'old' sun flares have been done so many times. I am not sure. But when I was up editing tonight and I pulled this photo up, I just had to share. My love of the sun continues. I am sure its a phase. It can't last forever, right? ;)

This glowing mom-to-be came referred by one of my Sacramento clients and made the drive up in the scorching heat. I felt so bad for her to be pregnant in over 100 degree weather. What a trooper she was though...and up for all sorts of fun! She and her husband are expecting their first baby almost exactly 1 year after their wedding...its been a busy year for this newlywed couple! ;)

Last night I had the privilege of photographing this gorgeous woman, Megan and her family. Megan is a girl I went to highschool with and is currently fighting her 3rd battle with cancer. She is so courageous and strong-- what an inspiration to us all!

She has 9 year old twins and a 9 week old new baby. Her and her husband are SO in love...you could just feel the love and support last night as we worked on capturing some family moments.

After careful review and speaking with some local mom's, I redesigned my Collections. Previously, the 1st year collection was 3 sessions at various ages. NOW, its 4 sessions at various STAGES. Switching like this ensures that no stage of your baby's development goes un-noticed and un-photographed. We do a newborn session, a tummy time session, a sitting up session, a first steps session and a 1st birthday session. Well, since you asked, I did change my maternity/newborn package. JJ was the student speaker at his graduation at ACE in Wheatland and even though we didn't get his photos done before the big ceremony, we did manage to meet up last week and capture some amazing senior photos for him and his parents.

A couple of weeks ago my friend informed me that her and her family, some of her friends and various other community members had voted for me in the Appeal Democrat's BEST OF Yuba-Sutter 2009 for Best Photographer. I was in SHOCK! I couldn't believe that I had fans whom I had never met, folks that enjoyed my work and were on my site and my blog that often and that people generally would use the term "best" to describe my business and my photos. I kept quiet about it because I didn't want to jinx myself or seem like I was fishing for votes, but I was so proud that I just had to let everyone know! HOW NEAT IS THIS?!

This is little Trent (who wasn't so little at over 8lbs when he was born)...and isn't he a DOLL with all his dark hair? He has a darling big brother who is such a good helper too. I spent a nice day with them and captured their little guy, some classic 'baby in the hands' photos, some big brother and baby photos and some totally new stuff too. Marysville Photographer | {Let's Relay!}

Tomorrow, June 13 is the annual Relay for Life event at Geweke Field. I have been a huge American Cancer Society partner for years, particpating in events from Sacramento, Yuba-Sutter, nationally and with a variety of organizations.

My mother is a cancer survivor. My grandfather was a cancer victim. I have young friends who have had cancer. And I bet you have similar stories, right? Unfortunately, cancer has touched many of our lives and has cut short even more too many.

Now that I have a good business name behind me, I feel like I can do more for the cause. I teamed up with the Yuba County Office of Education (YCOE) this year and we are raffling off a FREE photo shoot and enlargement with Jessica Cole Photography! I will be at the event with samples of my work, my newborn book "Tiny Bits of Bliss", my own babies will be there for awhile with my mom and my family. There will be LOTS going on in our booth for SURE!

On top of the raffle, I will also be having some exclusive deals and promotions that are only available from 11AM-5PM so make sure you stop by, ask and bring your checkbooks!!! The American Cancer Society could sure use the support!

My girls were pretty bald for the longest time but I got to thinking the other day that I could get their hair into pig tails. With a little 'home studio' fun and a couple of clippies, we finally got some shots of the pigtails! FINALLY! After 19 moths of baldness and 'baby mullets', we have real pigtails!

We are focusing this exhibit around maternity and newborn work, especially black and white photos. My Mother's Day

Of course, I have not one single photo of me and my girls on Mother's Day together. I have about 300 shots of my girls though. :) Isn't that they way it goes?

I wanted to share some of them since I think they are the cutest little things going and also it gave me some cute-ness to add with my announcement: NEW BLOG COMING ASAP! Its been in the works for months now and is finally coming along. I am working like crazy to get it done before the summer really kicks off and I think I am driving my IT guy insane! ;)

Maternity Models Needed

I am having a casting call for maternity models. The sessions will be to my taste with a goal of capturing the images I need to capture for a big project in the community. Of course, when time permits we will do all the shots that you want to capture as well and we can include family members, etc.

I need 3-5 pregnant women between now and mid July for maternity sessions. You must be between 32-37 weeks pregnant (if you are carrying twins between 24-28 weeks).

Check out my site to see my style of portraits and know that some elegant, yet tasteful, nudity might be involved as well as some outdoor 'nudity' (remote locations, obviously).

Relay for Life 2009 {Let's Raffle}

This tiny girl was born right on her due date and I got to see her at only 4 days old. When I saw her she was weighing in at only 6lbs 4oz and was as sweet as can be.

I am so excited about these new products. As I sit here and edit my last newborn session for this week, I couldn't help but take a jelly bean break and play around with these amazing new items. They are called "Fancy Mats" and can be sized anywhere from 5x7 to 20x24. They are gorgeous when printed and are a super fun alternative to the boring mats you get at craft shops. Jamie's Maternity Session

This gorgeous couple is expecting their first little baby-- a girl! I was lucky enough to capture this magical time in their life (even after a mix-up on my part). Thankfully enough, this wonderful couple was patient with my error and we got right to work getting every single shot they asked for....and then some!

This mom-to-be is glowing all around and her body is in amazing shape-- not ONE SINGLE mark on it! What a beautiful growing family.

And, as we got to talking, a weird twist of irony came up...this mom-to-be styled my hair for my wedding! How neat is that?! It really is a small world.

Update for my clients

Hi everyone! I wanted to get an update to all my recent clients before the Easter weekend.

I am in the process of creating an album for a client, editing 3 newborn galleries, burning CD's as well as placing orders and prepping for 3 new sessions. However, I will not be in my office on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

ALL galleries will be published and passwords emailed out by Tuesday, April 14th. I am working as hard and as fast as I can to get everything up and perfect for you but the holiday weekend will be taking me away from work for a couple of days.

Little newborn Hugh

I had a weekend full of babies this past weekend. I love it! It reminds me everytime I hold one just why I started this business.

This is little Hugh. He was 7lbs 15oz when he was born and was over 8lbs when I did his photos. I am still in awe every time I do a newborn session just how 'tiny' an 8lb 'big' baby is...they really are tiny little miracles.

"The baby whisperer"

I had to laugh today when my newest client called me the 'baby whisperer'. I have been called the 'baby lady', the 'maternity girl' and the 'newborn person' but this is the first 'baby whisperer'. I love it!

This new little girl was due today, April 5th but was born 3 weeks early. Because of that, she was not quite 7 lbs when I did her photos and slept through EVERYTHING! I don't think I could have asked for a better newborn. She is gorgeous!

A total bonus for me is that her name is soooo stinkin' cute too- her name is Stevie! Stevie Lynn C. I just adore it-- I love 'boy' names on girls (as you may know, I have a girl named Parker).

I would love to show off all of these photos but I can't ruin mom's big surprise gallery. So, for now, enjoy baby Stevie!

Tonight I took my girls out for a shoot- something I rarely get to do. I took my friend and her 3.5 month old son, Evan, as well to help me chase the girls. This set up is something I had been wanting to do for a few weeks now and I am so glad that my weeks of prep paid off.

I had the pleasure of being welcomed into the gorgeous Gosal home to photograph their new arrivals- TWINS! A boy (Justin) and a girl (Jussi). They are such good babies and are so sweet. This session definitely brought back some fond memories of when my babies were 3 weeks old. My goodness how time flies!

I got to photograph this beautiful little princess and today I got to do it again! This is my favorite part about my profession- following a family through their life and every important milestone and journey.

The mom was my very FIRST maternity client and little baby "K" was my first newborn! I guess I can thank them for all my continued success- they are gorgeous models!!!

There is a new big brother in town!

Little "G" man welcomed his baby sister last week and I had the pleasure of being there for her birth. Today, I got to visit again for her newborn session. Big brother is being so good with his sister and the whole family is doing so well. They are glowing with happiness...and maybe some sleep deprivation. :)

And, yes, I am obviously on some kind of a black & white kick here lately! HA HA! I just love these babies in black and white. Don't you?

Mixing it up with the "M" Family

This morning I had a session with the "M" family. They were totally fun and willing to mix it up a bit with me...together we had a traveling photo session and went all over the area testing out my new ideas and locations. I am teaming up with the Yuba County Office of Education Realy for Life team this year and we will be raffling off a shoot with me! Its a 1 hour session and an 11x14 enlargement ($235 value)!!! Tickets are $10 each and all proceeds go to the American Cancer Society and all donations/raffle tickets are tax deductible.

I will be at the event (June 13-14 at Geweke Field) in the YCOE tent with samples of my work, selling tickets and walking with my girls and hubby. Come stop by this year and see me, meet my twins, go for a walk and see if your family is on display at the event.

There will be more ways to donate coming soon but for now...tickets are ON SALE! What a fun way to do something great!

I am quickly getting this reputation as the 'nude' photographer-- and I love it! Between my maternity photos, the boudoir style photos and me stripping newborns down to nothing, I can see how it the reputation has started. I don't mind. Maybe its my years in healthcare or my years as a dancer, but tasteful nudity to me is no big deal. What's more cute than a naked baby's bottom? And more priceless than a mom and her baby chest to chest?

I have had so many ideas for a newborn that I can hardly stop myself from grabbing random babies and photographing them. With a big baby boom this week, its nice because I get to test my ideas.

I am so thankful that this family loves the ideas and shares the same vision as I do. Now, I can't ruin her gallery but I have to share some of these amazing shots of baby Claire. Yes, we did them on the rainy day. No flash (as usual). They have AMAZING light/windows in their home and it worked perfectly!

Remember this glowing mommy & daddy?

Well guess who arrived?! Their little princess. I am not announcing the name since that is the mommy & daddy's joy to do and I am not showing a real 'shot' of the baby yet either or the details of her birth; I am waiting for mom and dad to have the pleasure of those events. But I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to do this birth with them and photograph every little moment.

Live birth photography is something commonly overlooked by parents who are busy decorating a nursery, writing a birth plan and stocking up on diapers. But its truly an important investment. How else can you capture the magical first moments together without carrying your own camera around, getting blurry photos in haste and not getting to enjoy all the moments that mean so much?

Live birth photography is something I have been wanting to launch for awhile now and I am so happy to get to announce that its now an option for my clients. I take a 'fly on the wall' approach and watch the magic unfold as a new life enters your family. I capture the moment you first see that squirming little bundle, the weighing, the foot prints, the first time you feed him/her, first family photos, the first time big brother/sister gets to see the baby...all the moments you are living. You shouldn't have to miss out on the moments to take a photo and you shouldn't have to miss the photo either. You can have both. What an irreplaceable investment in your memories and your family.

Little newborn "J" was only 5 lbs 7 oz when he was born and is still under 6 lbs today when I had the pleasure of photographing him. He was such a good baby and even though I was undressing him, moving him and took away his pacifier, he never really cried and screamed. What a good guy!

Baubles

Just when I thought my job couldn't be more fun, I have some baubles to share. The first is my new 'baby'...my Blackberry. I am addicted already. I can check all my emails no matter where I am now and keep in touch with clients constantly. This is GREAT for my live birth moms because I can get 'the call' or the text or the e-mail no matter what when they go into labor. I can also schedule everybody right here and not have to worry about my book all the time. YEAH!

Also, one of the coolest things that I love is my new camera strap. Made by Jodie's Camera Staps, they are a fun, fresh and unique way to customize your gear. Check out my cute new hot pink/black one! Love it! I told her I would give her a plug here on my blog so be sure to check out her sites.

Her 18 month old twins (yes, this girl has twins too-- and her body is PERFECT!) have brought out the most gorgeous, glowing side of her that I have ever seen. Motherhood definitely suits her!

First of all, I have to apologize to Leslie for delaying her sneak peek. I have had a sick twin at home- boo! :( Thanks to my FAB clients for their patience with me as we snuggle in with a sick baby here at the Cole household.

Leslie is a gorgeous mom of two boys and managed to have them both off to school and herself all made up for our shoot by 8:30 AM (while my girls were at home in PJ's and I was still chugging coffee). Well, my holiday break is officially over and I am thrilled to announce a new look to Jessica Cole Photography on the website as well as new pricing, packages and collections! Be sure to check out the information on my site (www.jessicacolephotography.com).

In other new housekeeping news, I am thrilled to announce that I am now doing wedding photography! Michelle and I will be lingering around bridal shows in February so keep an eye out for those two crazy blondes with stacks of business cards!

Michelle and I will be breaking ground on the studio in just a few weeks and will have a state of the art facility for your studio needs before you know it! We have been shopping, browsing, gathering ideas and so much more! Be sure to stay tuned for those new announcements as they come in as well...we are so thrilled about it!

I am so happy to see that my clients are sticking it out with me over the troublesome economic times this year...already I have newborn sessions and maternity sessions rolling in! I know that times can be hard for everyone right now and true professional photography is a luxury expense. His gorgeous wife, Sara, is 34 weeks pregnant with their first baby-- a little girl! It is with great excitement that I announce a new partnership in my photography business. Jessica Cole Photography is merging with Michelle Chandler of Moments to Remember Photography. Michelle is the owner and operator of Chandler’s Busy Bees Daycare in Yuba City. She began Moments to Remember Photography in 2007 and has met wild success in her endeavor. She lives in Yuba City with her husband of 11 years and their two gorgeous children.

As business partners, we will maintain the business name of Moments to Remember Photography and will combine our distinctive styles, personalities and creative visions for this business.

We can proudly announce that we will begin construction on a state of the art photography studio with a full acre of fully landscaped beauty to capture your magical moments. The new studio will be centrally located in Yuba City and work will begin this winter and be completed before the summer’s end. Both Michelle and I are thrilled to have this opportunity at our fingertips to better serve our clients, their families and our community.

I had the pleasure of shooting my dear friend Michele and her stunning family today. I swear, I have never seen a more glowing pregnant woman in my life! As usual, most of my shots are straight from the camera with very minimal editing required. Michele really wanted me to 'make her look fabulous'...well, following her request, I think she looks FABULOUS! And...none of these are retouched and edited!

This is one of my favorite poses. My husband actually had this idea when we did our maternity photos and I think I took it to another level today with this amazing couple!

My 1st wedding!!!

Today I had the pleasure of shooting my first wedding with my friend and fellow photographer, Michelle Chandler. Michelle owns Busy Bees Daycare as well as Moments to Remember Photography. She is amazing and as we work together more and more, we are having a blast! Today, we traveled to Tahoe together for a FUN couple, Tad & Nicole, and shot their casino wedding. It was so classy, tasteful, elegant but also fun, relaxed and intimate. Here are some of my sneak peeks...more to come soon!

Lastly, I have to share this one of Nicole and her mom. Its one of those shots that is not 'technically' a perfect shot (heck, it was taken in the reflection of a mirror that OBVIOUSLY needs to be cleaned) but the moment was so real and tender that the specks, reflections and noise make it so perfect. Love it!

All around, today was amazing. This couple has such a wonderful love story that I couldn't help but get misty eyed throughout the day. What a great experience! Now that I have shot a wedding, you just never know what might be around the corner for me and Jessica Cole Photography!

All essays need to be typed and emailed (as an attached Word document) to me at jessicacolephotography@gmail.com BEFORE midnight on December 5th. All entries will be read by ME only (so don't worry about giving me the real scoop) and judged by ME only.

Mini-sessions 2008!

Yesterday I held my mini-sessions for holiday portraits. I have not even really started to sort through all the images completely yet but I had to share a few that stuck out right away for me.

For those that came yesterday, thank you for your patience with me at my first ever mini-session event. I had a great time meeting those that are new to me and seeing some of my regular clients as well. Your galleries will be up within the week and you will receive your passwords to check out your photos and Christmas card samples.
Thanks again & I had a blast!

A special thanks to this little guy's mom & dad for helping me at the end- they were my last session of the day. And, look how CUTE he is! They are one of my regular clients and friends...gotta love this one!
